Cybersecurity has the green light! The European Commission has opened further calls for support

Until 6 July, you can apply for a European grant for cybersecurity projects in companies, state and local government, schools, universities, research institutes and third sector organisations. The grant amount is mostly 50 percent, up to 75 percent of the total budget for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The current call of the European Commission will consider projects to build training centres, security operations centres or projects with innovative solutions.

Are you among them? Go for it! Successful projects are not subject to quotas and national restrictions, so they are an equal opportunity for all. In the previous spring call, the European Commission gave the green light to eight cybersecurity projects from the Slovak Republic, focusing on innovative solutions and building security operations centres. Press release of 23 May 2023

European grants for cybersecurity projects are open to companies, national and local governments, schools, universities, research institutes and third sector organisations. These legal entities apply for funding individually or in consortia, with grant amounts of 50 percent in most cases, and up to 75 percent of the budget for SMEs.

In the current call of the European Commission, projects are expected to build training centres, security operations centres (SOC) or projects with innovative solutions.

As Digital Europe is one of the EU’s directly managed programmes, the challenges are characterised by fast decision-making, communication with Brussels, simple administration and implementation. This type of financial assistance is managed directly by the European Commission and provides a fast and simple implementation process without unnecessary bureaucracy.

Applicants apply directly according to the call text and apply online. The project form contains the project objectives, description of activities, timetable and financial plan, while feasibility studies are not required.

Successful projects are not subject to quotas and national restrictions, so they represent an equal opportunity for all. In the spring call, the European Commission gave the green light to eight cybersecurity projects from Slovakia focusing on innovative solutions and building security operations centres.

“What pushed the applicants to the winning final was the strict respect of the assignment and evaluation criteria in the call,” says Valentína Michálková, Director of the EU Programmes Department of the Competence Centre, based on her experience. “Applicants commented positively that the calls were not bureaucratic and the funding was accommodating.”

The Digital Europe Programme calls for cybersecurity projects are open from 25 May to 6 July 2023.
