The concept of a digital twin was already developed in the early 1990s, but it has only become a key tool in industry, construction and the medical sector today. With an emphasis on use in the cybersecurity segment.
Digital Twin is a modern IT solution that allows small and large companies to effectively manage processes and operations or monitor the environment in which their employees work and spend a significant part of their lives. It is a digital copy of any object, whatever it may be – a production hall, a parking house, the movement of people or goods in logistics or machines in industry.
GAMO, a.s., uses it for intelligent management of buildings and objects.
It is a benefit, and even so it saves
Digital twin, or in other words, real-time data collection and 3D visualization of objects. The information collected from IoT devices and sensors that map the physical environment is projected into their digital copy, the Digital Twin, and allows them to react quickly to changing conditions and situations. In this way, ordinary objects magically become intelligent digital models, capable of anticipating and responding to potential problems or threats.
In many cases, they save companies and individuals financial costs and bring the benefits of a safe, healthy and comfortable work zone.
Satisfaction guarantees performance
GAMO a.s. has implemented a digital twin in its headquarters in order to create an ideal working environment for its employees, assuming comfortable work performance. This innovative solution required the installation of 15 sensors to measure CO2, humidity and temperature, and two sensors to measure electrical quantities. The sensors are connected to IoT devices and processes that mirror the company’s physical spaces digitally in the Twinzo app. The technology thus enables relevant information about the working environment to be gathered in real time and then flexible decisions to be made to ensure the ideal functioning of offices and shared meeting spaces.
Air quality measurement
Most interesting was the data collected from the large meeting room, where the measured CO2 value was changing rapidly. The empty room showed readings of only around 650 ppm, far below the harmless minimum (1000 ppm). However, during meetings and deliberations with larger numbers of workers, the readings rose to hygienically serious (1631 ppm) to unacceptable levels (3129 ppm).
Note that rooms with CO2 levels over 1000 ppm may already experience symptoms of fatigue or reduced concentration from the exhaled air, with headaches already occurring at over 2000 ppm.
All these parameters influence the working environment and work performance. The installation of sensors in the GAMO premises has helped to monitor the room parameters and, if necessary, to switch on the ventilation for fresh air supply or to adjust the rooms in a timely manner.
What does it look like in practice?
In addition to the data you see in the app, the sensors can signal the air quality status by flashing in colour. With just a glance at the sensor in the room, you’ll know if you need to ventilate. A green light indicates an ideal environment, a yellow light warns of deterioration, and a red light indicates poor air quality and the need for ventilation.
Thanks to digital twin technology, GAMO a.s. today manages to: maintain ideal working conditions, eliminate air quality and temperature impacts in offices, and save on energy costs.
Combined with environmental sensors, it allows to look for a relationship between outdoor temperature, indoor temperature and heating level. Yes, monitoring the temperature in the company premises is also a good incentive to start heating. As soon as the system measures extremely low temperatures in the offices, for example 17.5°C at 8am, this is a signal for change. Working in wool sweaters is, figuratively speaking, a blessing in disguise. Thanks to the Twinzo app, notifications about the CO2 level in the air as well as the temperature level in the company premises can be accessed at any time without having to be physically present.
Is it for everyone?
Yeah. As a partner of the development company Twinzo and the data company T-Industry, GAMO can implement and coordinate tailor-made solutions in any industrial or office space.
