Cybersecurity today is not just about code and technology. It’s a world where curiosity, quick thinking, perseverance and teamwork make the difference. That’s exactly what the Slovak Cyber Team is.
The community of young talents shows that Slovakia has a strong voice in cyberspace. They are courageous, ready for challenges and motivated to be part of the solutions that protect modern society.
How does a national SCT cyber team come into being? The beginning of the journey is not easy at all. From the participants of the national CyberGame competition, the top twenty are selected. They then undergo several months of intensive training – from weekend bootcamps in a manor house in Brunovce to an international training camp in Vienna.
The team consists of young people aged 16 to 23 led by managers Alexandra Húsková and Tomáš Hettych from the Cyber Security Competence and Certification Centre. The technical training of the team is led by Adam Gajdošík (NSA). The team captain is 23-year-old Marek Geleta. In 2025, they have achieved several successes, the biggest one came in October at the European CyberSecurity Challenge in Warsaw, where the Slovak final ten won a fantastic 4th place out of 39 national teams.
In addition to technical knowledge, they learn how to work under pressure, think like both an attacker and a defender, solve problems creatively, and, equally importantly, coordinate. By tackling challenges in areas such as forensics, cryptography, binary exploitation and reverse engineering, they gain practical IT skills that are hardly available elsewhere.
It is about building a community that shares experiences and creates friendships. Slovak Cyber Team develops their key soft skills, necessary for career growth and future career opportunities in protecting companies and businesses.
